Sen. Elizabeth Warren's 20 year Air Force veteran brother died without his family from the coronavirus. His passing was announced by Warren on Twitter.

Don Reed joined the Air Force at the age of 19 and served for 20 years before retiring. Warren said her brother was charming, funny, and a natural leader.

“I’m grateful to the nurses and other front-line staff who took care of my brother, but it is hard to know that there was no family to hold his hand or to say ‘I love you’ one more time. And now there’s no funeral for those of us who loved him to hold each other close,” Warren commented to the Boston Globe.

Her brother was 86-years old.

"What made him extra special was his smile -- quick and crooked, it always seemed to generate its own light, one that lit up everyone around him," Warren wrote on Twitter.
