Santa flying on powered parachute rescued from power lines

It looks like Santa Claus got a little more than he bargained for when he switched out his reindeer for a powered parachute.

A man dressed as Jolly Old Saint Nicholas on his way to deliver candy canes to children in Rio Linda had to be rescued Sunday after flying the vehicle straight into live power lines. The incident happened shortly after the man took off near a school and then hit the lines.

He was suspended for over an hour.

Officials said power was shut off to about 200 customers in the area during the rescue. "A big relief. He’s going to be able to get all of the presents anywhere. It’s a good day," one man told KOVR-TV.

The man, who wasn't identified, was not injured.

Christmas is expected to go on as scheduled.
