You Can Now Make Walt Disney’s Favorite Chili Recipe at Home

As we continue to practice social distancing, Disney wants to bring the magic of the happiest place on Earth into your kitchen.

With parks around the world remaining closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney has been blessing fans with iconic recipes that can be easily recreated at home and make us feel like we’re on vacation.

In April alone, Disney released recipes for their decadent churro bites and the refreshing dole whip, and now, we’re adding another staple to our Disney “at home” cookbook: Walt’s chili recipe.

For those who don’t know, Walt Disney was a chili aficionado.

According to Disney Family, chili was his go-to meal and he would combine two popular canned chilis -- Gebhardt’s and Dennison’s -- into one for a perfectly balanced and hearty bowl.

He liked it so much that he would even take chili with him when he traveled.

Eventually, the recipe evolved thanks to the family cook.

That particular recipe is still served to millions of Disney fans at Carnation Café at Disneyland, and was obtained by Walt’s oldest daughter, Diane, to share with fans all over the world.

The recipe, which you can find here, is an impressive balance of meat, veggies, and, of course, beans.

The blog suggests that you top if off with shredded cheese, sour cream, and fresh tomatoes.

But if you want the true Walt Disney experience, you’ve got to sprinkle saltine crackers on top!

As you make yourself a big bowl of Walt's chili, be on the lookout for more magical recipes coming your way during the quarantine!

“These past few weeks, we’ve seen many of you sharing Disney recipes and creating your very own magical moments right at home. Being a BIG fan of Disney Parks snacks myself, this has inspired us to share one of my favorite recipes so you can continue creating #DisneyMagicMoments,” wrote Alex Dunlap, Disney’s food and beverage coordinator.
