Apple stirred up plenty of buzz when it announced its four new iPhones outfitted with 5G wireless networks.
However, the devices are far from affordable with a steep price tag that ranges from $700 all the way to $1,100. And that’s without the additional cost of purchasing a charging adapter, which Apple said will no longer be included and can set you back an additional $20 to $50. Apple cited environmental reasons for the change.
The sticker-value has understandably shocked some consumers.
If you want to get your hands on the iPhone 12 but don’t want to pay the full price, there are a few ways to snag it at a deep discount.
AT&T customers can get the phone for free – yes, free! – with an $800 trade-in. Both new and existing customers who trade in an iPhone 8 or newer model are eligible for the offer. The only condition is that they get an unlimited data plan and make a 30 month commitment to the carrier.
T-Mobile and Verizon are also offering discounts to customers.
New customers with an iPhone 11 Pro or 10 XS can earn an $850 trade-in credit at T-Mobile for the iPhone 12. Customers must add a line of service. Existing customers can snag trade-in deals between $200-$500.
The service provider is also giving customers who had Sprint for at least five years an extra $200 off with trade-in of an active iPhone on an eligible plan, per Yahoo News.
New customers at Verizon are also offering the option to trade-in an iPhone X or newer model. If you set up a new line of service, you can get up to $550 off. Existing customers with eligible data plans can trade in their phones to get the iPhone 12 for just $15 a month for two years.
Apple announced that the iPhone 12 will move from LCD screen to OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screen. The screen still retains the 6.1-inch display size found on the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. Featuring an aluminum frame, the iPhone 12 comes in five colors: black, white, blue, red, and green. It’s also “11% thinner, 15% smaller and 16% lighter than” the iPhone 11.
In addition to the standard iPhone 12, the tech giant also announced three other versions: iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Max. While all will feature 5G technology, the 12 Max features a 6.7-inch display that the company said was the largest iPhone screen to date.
The iPhone 12 Mini starts at $699, the iPhone 12 Pro at $999 and the iPhone 12 Max at $1099.
The phones will officially go on-sale on October 23.
