How Corey Taylor Takes Care of His Mental Health During the Pandemic

Taylor has been a longtime advocate of ending the stigma about discussing mental health

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of parts of life. As many institutions and facets of life remain shutdown, it’s important to take care of your mental health.

Corey Taylor has long been open about his mental health and his struggles with addiction and has used his time in quarantine to continue to advocate.

In a recent RADIO.COM LIVE FANDEMIC interview, Taylor said the pandemic has “made me evaluate what the future holds, I don’t think anyone can take anything for granted anymore.”

Because of this, Taylor has continued to push to end the stigma of talking about mental health and advocating for people to find treatment that’s right for them.

“I’ve been a massive advocate for a longtime that we need to lift that stigma (of talking about mental health),” Taylor said.

Whether it’s working with therapy, medication, or other methods, Taylor implores people to “find something that works for them.”

In Taylor’s mind, the best step a person can take is to admit you need help. “There’s nothing wrong with admitting that you need help,” he said. “If you don’t, you’re making the problem worse.”

What’s Taylor been doing to help his mental health during the pandemic? He has a couple of outlets that have been working for him.

“It can be as easy as sitting down and playing piano and writing,” he says before adding “or just trying to reconnect with my family.”

Family plays a major role in helping Taylor. Despite any craziness that ensues, he takes pride in keeping everything together for his family and trying to serve as a role model.
