Some casinos around California have slowly been reopening throughout the month of June, many with new socially-distanced machines and measures in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

One such location is Coyote Valley Casino in Redwood Valley.

It doesn't just stop after you get in the door. Washing my hands and getting a fresh drop of hand sanitizer before stepping inside was only the first step.

"So our next step in the process is we have a temperature check," General Manager Marc Bilodeau said.

Getting the traditional forehead temperature check was very fast.

However, it's not as quick as it will be soon.

Once inside, masks are required while playing and I could see that every other slot machine has been closed down, except for the most popular ones.

Those are separated by plexiglass.

He told KCBS Radio they’re priding themselves on heightened safety measures, including banning smoking for the time being.

"I think we took it to another level just because we wanted to show everybody that we’re paying attention, that you can come gamble here because we’re paying attention for you."
