Face mask vending machines are coming soon to a BART station near you.
BART wants to make sure that all riders are able to use the system safely.
"If you’re in the BART system, it’s a given that you have to have your face mask on," BART General Manager Bob Powers told KCBS Radio.
All riders are required to wear masks on trains and platforms.
"We want to be able to put some vending machines in stations just in case you forgot your mask at home," BART Spokesperson Alicia Trost said. The agency is working to procure face mask vending machines.
BART officials say the mask requirement will likely be in effect for a long time, and they are working with other transit agencies to ensure that rules are consistent for riders.
BART’s current ridership is about 10% of what it was in mid-March.
