
One person died in a head-on collision when he drove onto southbound Highway 1 in the wrong direction Thursday morning, authorities said.
The man driving his Dodge Charger against traffic was killed when his car going north struck a Mercedes SUV at 3:10 a.m. in Pacifica, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A female passenger in the Dodge and a male in the Mercedes were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, police said.
The extent of their injuries was unknown.
The driver of the Dodge had only traveled a few hundred yards from the Manner Drive ramp when the collision occured, according to CHP spokesman Bert Diaz.
Both cars were totaled from the impact.
