Crews increase containment of Pope Fire in Napa County

Firefighters are working to contain a vegetation fire that broke out in Napa County late Friday afternoon.

CAL FIRE crews are battling the Pope Fire burning in the area of Lower Chiles Valley Road and Chiles Pope Valley Road.

Officials said the 61 acre blaze was 80% contained, as of about 7 p.m. Saturday.

Closures were ordered Friday on Chiles Pope Valley Road, between Pope Canyon Road and Lower Chiles Valley Road.

While Red Flag Warnings have been issued starting Sunday across the Bay Area due to strong winds, the National Weather Service said the winds near the Pope Fire were not strong.

The Pope Fire was first reported at about 4 p.m.
