Earth Day is Monday and Entercom Pittsburgh couldn’t be more excited. We will be planting various plants and trees around Point State Park’s Great Lawn area in an effort to not only beautify the area but improve the park’s ecosystem.
Point State Park is the Gateway to Pittsburgh and is the green area of the Golden Triangle. When you go to Pittsburgh, you see the Point!
Team members from KDKA Radio, 93.7 The Fan, Star 100.7 and Y108 will all be volunteering as a group to help with landscaping and planting plants native to the area.
These are the same plants that would’ve been at the site in the mid-18th century and will provide great ecological benefits to the area. The trees and plants reduce pollution, attract wildlife and can even cool down our city during the hot summer months.
We’ll be planting almost 200 plants including coneflower, hazelnut, coreopsis, joe pye weed, bur oak, elderberry and more!
Entercom Pittsburgh is donating the plants and flowers that the team will be planting that day.
