PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Pennsylvania Resources Council has created a schedule for glass recycling locations for those who are now unable to use curbside service.
PRC’s “Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program” will set up rotating locations in numerous spots across western Pennsylvania.
The hope is that it will facilitate glass recycling now that curbside pickup is no longer available in some areas.
Just make sure to rinse and empty each container and leave the labels as is.
Color sorting is not required.
Bags or boxes used to transport the glass will have to be taken back or discarded off-site.
“This pilot program expands PRC’s current glass recycling collection opportunities by providing residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to PRC Environmental Program Coordinator Ashley DiGregorio. “Self-serve glass drop off is available during daylight hours on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, and bin sites are strictly monitored at all times.”
