PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network (AHN) has partnered with MSA Safety to secure 65,000 N95 protective masks.
Masks have become a critical resource and been hard to come by as the COVID-19 pandemic has continued.
“MSA recognizes the critical importance of personal protective equipment as we work together with health care providers in their efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” Mark Deasy, spokesperson for MSA Safety said. “In that spirit, we are very pleased to donate our complete U.S. allotment of these masks to the local Pittsburgh medical community.”
Donald Whiting, MD, AHN’s Chief Medical Officer, will be collaborating with other local hospitals to develop a distribution strategy for the masks.
The goal is to spread the masks to first responders, EMS, and other health care providers.
