Ben Roethlisberger Rewards K9 Grants To Local Police And Fire Departments

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at the Giving Back Fund is giving six grants to police and fire K-9 programs in Pittsburgh and two in Ohio.

The Foundation shared on their website that the grants will help establish new K-9 units, purchase equipment and help with the training and certification of the dogs.

The Borough of Homestead Police, City of Beaver Falls Fire Department, City of Butler Police Department, Columbiana Police Department (OH), Connellsville Police Department, Martins Ferry Police Department (OH), Indiana Township Police Department and Uniontown City Police Department will receive the grants.

The Foundation has given two-point-two million since 2007, with one-point-eight million of those funds specifically benefited K-9 programs.

Roethlisberger has also helped out State Police and other stations in years past.
