Coronavirus Deaths In PA Nearly Double In One Day

HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The number of coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania continues to increase

The PA Department of Health confirmed that as of midnight, April 7, there are 1,579 new cases to bring the state total to 14,559 in all 67 counties.

78 additional people have died bringing the total to 240.

A total of 76,719 people have tested negative for coronavirus.

The age breakdown:

  • Less than 1% are aged 0-4;
  • Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;
  • 1% are aged 13-18;
  • 7% are aged 19-24; 
  • Nearly 42% are aged 25-49; 
  • Nearly 29% are aged 50-64; and
  • Nearly 20% are aged 65 or older.

 A majority of the patients hospitalized are 65 or older and there have been no pediatric deaths to date.

All residents in the commonwealth are currently under a Stay-at-Home.

That order is currently in effect through April 30.
