PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The FBI is offering a reward for information leading to identifying the person(s) responsible for vandalizing the WWI Memorial in Lawrenceville earlier this week.

Up to $2,500 is being offered to anyone who can help providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandal(s).

On May 25 vandals painted the phrase “June 19 1986 Glory to the day of heroism,” on the statue known commonly as the Doughboy Statue.

Images of a hammer and sickle in red paint were also on all sides of the statue.

Crews were able to clean the paint off of the statue earlier this week.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office at 412-432-4000.

Tips can also be reported anonymously online.
