HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Governor Tom Wolf took to Twitter on Friday to quell rumors that he’d be canceling the school year.

Wolf emphatically dispelled the gossip that he’d be shutting down schools and canceling class, but he also clarified how to gather more information on the issue.

According to his two tweets on the topic, the reopening of the schools will be left to the “school governing boards and administrators.”

And Wolf also continued that that is the best way to find out the latest news regarding a schools’ closure, reopening or curriculum: contacting the school governing boards and administrators.

There are widespread rumors that I will soon be announcing a statewide school building closure or cancelling classes this fall.I want to be clear: I am not closing school buildings or cancelling classes.

School governing boards and administrators will determine if school buildings reopen and if classes resume in person, remotely, or a combination of the two.The best way to find out about these local decisions is to contact your school’s governing board or administration.
