HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - On Friday, Governor Tom Wolf ordered that all U.S. and commonwealth flags be lowered to half-staff at all state facilities, commonwealth grounds, and public buildings.

The order will be active from sunrise to sunset on Memorial Day, which is on Monday, May 25.

In the new Presidential Flag Order, the U.S. flag should be set at half-staff to honor all the victims of COVID-19.

That should continue up until Monday, May 25 when the U.S. flag will be relowered for Memorial Day.

Commonwealth flags have already been lowered for coronavirus victims and will remain at half-staff until a later date.

“Each Memorial Day, we recognize and honor the brave men and women of our armed forces who sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedom,” said Governor Wolf.

“It is our duty to remember their bravery and commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations can enjoy a safer world.”
