PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A passenger was found with a 9mm caliber handgun in his backpack at a security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport Tuesday morning.

Police say the 30-year-old man had a valid concealed carry permit and left the weapon in his bag inadvertently.

Allegheny County police have possession of the gun and the passenger was permitted to fly. No charges are expected to be filed.

Last week, TSA officials found another handgun in the carry-on luggage of another passenger.

To date, there have been 12 guns caught at security checkpoints at Pittsburgh International. In all of 2019, 35 guns were discovered.
