Heat Wave Could Cause Power Outages

As the current heat wave continues, it puts additional stress on electrical grids and utility companies are preparing for possible power outages as a result.

Duquesne Light offers a few recommendations for customers to prepare for a potential outage:

  • Be sure your cell phones and other electronic devices are charged
  • Stock an emergency kit that contains bottled water, non-perishable food, first-aid supplies, a flashlight and a battery-powered radio
  • During an outage, try not to open your refrigerator or freezer

Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 90s through the rest of the week. There will be some relief this weekend as temperatures are forecast to be in the mid 80s. Check your local forecast here.
