PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - An Ohio mas was arrested over the weekend when authorities found a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage.
The TSA discovered the weapon during an x-ray of the man's bag at a security checkpoint on Saturday. Allegheny County Police confiscated the .32 caliber handgun.
So far this year, the TSA has caught eight firearms at the airport. There were 35 such incidents in all of 2019.
Throughout the country, more than 4,400 firearms were discovered in 2019. 87 percent of those were loaded.
Airline passengers can travel with firearms, but the TSA says they have to properly stored in checked baggage.
