HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania’s unemployment compensation office has been inundated with new claims in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic as Pennsylvanians lose their jobs and find themselves with reduced hours.

Labor and Industry Secretary Jerry Oleksiak says the organization continues to improve its customer service capabilities.

“We have gone from 775 employees in our service centers to our current total of 1,719.

Oleksiak adds that 452 support staff were added to the unemployment service center in the month of July alone, with more anticipated in the coming months.
