Protesters Want Pitt To Divest From Fossil Fuel Companies

By NewsRadio 1020 KDKA

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - University of Pittsburgh students and activists rallied on campus Thursdays to try and force Pitt's board of trustees to divest from fossil fuel companies.

The protesters gathered outside the Cathedral of Learning

The signs from students and activist members of the Fossil Free Pitt Coalition read “We demand a vote”, “Pitt is complicit” and “Divest from fossil fuels”.

They are demanding the Pitt board of trustees vote later this month to divest from companies involved in fossil fuels.

They say they have the support of over 50 students groups and some 4,000 signatures on a petition urging a vote to divest.

The same protest is happening on dozens of campuses.
