PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Bob Casey is blasting the Trump administration for promoting the sale of so-called "junk" health insurance plans.
"Substandard insurance plans were allowed to flourish because of the actions of this administration," said Casey.
In a conference call with reporters, he called the plans insulting to the American people.
"These people should be in jail. Prosecuted and be in jail," he said.
A covert test conducted by the General Accounting Office found 8 of 31 insurance agents tested in five states including Pennsylvania were guilty of deceptive marketing, claiming policies would cover pre-existing conditions when in fact they would not.
Casey said, "They lured customers in with the promise of cheap health insurance, but do not prvide comprehensive coverage and they don't cover pre-existing conditions."
