On Saturday, October 24, 412 Food Rescue will hold a free food distribution event in the Hill District.
The event will take palce at the old Shop 'n Save store on Centre Avenue fro 9am to 11am.
A box containing fresh dairy, produce and meat will be available per household while supplies last.
No registration is required, but safety precautions must be taken by anyone who attends, including mask wearing, social distancing and any other safety guidance on site.
The event is in partnership with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh, Pitt Dining.
“The coronavirus pandemic is not just affecting families who suffered some sort of income shock. This is now really penetrating families with low-wage and essential workers. A program like Farmers to Families provides fresh produce, dairy and proteins to all families in need, regardless of the reason.” says 412 Food Rescue Chief Operating Officer David Primm.
The food is being donated by Paragon Foods through the USDA's Farmers to Families program.
