Multi-state, high-speed chase starts in Pittsburgh, ends in Ohio

A Bridgeport man is facing charges in Ohio and Pittsburgh following a multi-state high-speed chase.

According to Pittsburgh Police, a work truck was stolen from a construction site Tuesday afternoon shortly before 12pm near Station Square.

The vehicle was seen speeding along West Carson Street headed west. Officers were able to make a traffic stop on the vehicle along Ridenour Street, but during that stop the suspect fled the scene. One officer fired their gun during the incident.

Pennsylvania State Police became involved as the chase moved onto 1-376 west and then 1-79 south with vehicles traveling more than 80 miles per hour at times.

West Virginia State Police also got involved as the chase enter their state around 12:50pm.

Twenty minutes later the suspect crossed into Ohio where the Ohio State Highway Patrol was able to take 24-year-old Shad Bocella into custody.

Bocella, who was just released from the Allegheny County Jail earlier that morning, was arrested and is now facing charges in Ohio and Pittsburgh, though the exact charges have not been finalized.

Pittsburgh Police will conduct the investigation.
