Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Pittsburgh area

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather advisory for the Pittsburgh area with snow accumulation reaching up to 3-5 inches.

The advisory goes into effect at 1am Tuesday morning and remains through 7am Wednesday.

The weather could cause hazardous conditions on some roads.

Allegheny County crews are preparing for wintery weather. Officials plan to deploy 26 salt trucks with plows starting at 4am on Tuesday ahead of morning rush hour.

Motorists are being urged to slow down and leave extra space between vehicles. Drivers should also allow for extra travel time.
