The state of Pennsylvania has surpassed another milestone in the fight against COVID-19; The 6,778 new cases bring the past/present statewide total to 302,564.
The PA Health Department announced today that there are currently 3,162 individuals hospitalized and 661 patients in intensive care units.
The number of deaths attributed to coronavirus nears 10,000 with an additional 112 reported Saturday, bringing the total to 9,801.
Most of the states reported hospitalizations and deaths have occurred from patients aged 65 or older.
Of those who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:
Approximately 1% are ages 0-4;Nearly 3% are ages 5-12;Nearly 6% are ages 13-18;Approximately 13% are ages 19-24; Nearly 37% are ages 25-49; Approximately 21% are ages 50-64; andNearly 20% are ages 65 or older.
The PA Health Department has reiterated that mask wearing is mandatory in all businesses and when leaving home, mask wearing is a critical component in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
