‘Tis the season for holiday treats to come out of hibernation.
McDonald’s Holiday Pies are one of those menu items that immediately usher in the spirit of the holidays.
The limited-edition baked good is described as having a “creamy smooth, vanilla custard nestled in a flaky, buttery crust glazed with sugar and topped with rainbow sprinkles.”
Each pie also clocks in at 260 calories and 12 grams of fat per serving.
While McDonald’s didn’t officially announce the return of the beloved item, many holiday pie afficiados – who patiently waited almost a full year for the return of the beloved handheld pies – were overjoyed when they began spotting them at various locations.
In fact, the holiday pies are such a big deal, there’s a Facebook page dedicated solely to them titled “McDonalds Holiday Pies.”
Many customers took to the page to share their success stories of finding the pies at their local restaurants as early as December 1.
Sadly, there’s no official “release” statement from the chain.
When asked about the return of the pies, McDonald’s wrote on Twitter that availability will vary by location and recommended reaching out to a local McDonald’s to find out if there are any pies in stock.
Another holiday life hack is to go under the “Pies” tab on the McDonald’s app and see if it’s available to order.
And don’t forget, you could always ask about it as you’re picking up a McRib sandwich, which is also back for a limited-time only.
According to Mashable, the holiday pie was introduced in 2012 and follows the success of the apple pie, which has been on the menu for over 50 years.
