Looking for a new book to crack open? Whether nothing is calling out to you on your bookshelf, or you want to see the literary prowess of your favorite stars, here are eight fictional books that you won't believe were written by these huge celebrities.

'The Hottest State' by Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke has traced out an acting career of unique roles, and his extracurriculars are just as thoughtful. In 1996, Hawke published "The Hottest State," a novel about an aspiring actor who becomes entangled in a love affair.

'Junior' by Macaulay Culkin

The "Home Alone" star has done a little bit of everything since playing Kevin McAllister. In addition to his pizza-worshipping spoof band Pizza Underground, a hilarious sketch reprising his childhood role, and a slew of indie films, the actor has written a novel called "Junior," a mishmash of styles written from the perspective of a character who goes by -- you guessed it -- Junior.

'Shopgirl' by Steve Martin

These funny guys really mellow out when they get older. In addition to being a well-known art collector, Martin has published several books, including his memoir "Born Standing Up," an exploration of his early years doing comedy, and the novella "Shopgirl," which was adapted into a 2005 movie starring himself, Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman.

'City of Indra' and 'Time of the Twins' by Kylie and Kendall Jenner

There's literally nothing Kylie and Kendall can't do. The Jenner twins have written two young adult sci-fi novels which aren't overtly autobiographical. The two books -- "City of Indra" and "Time of the Twins" -- are about Lex, an impulsive military cadet, and Livia, a pampered Airess, who find out they are twins in a city where it's forbidden.

'Autumn Falls' by Bella Thorne

Off the heels of a five-year Disney Channel run, Bella Thorne published her first novel "Autumn Falls" in 2014, about a girl whose wishes came true every time she wrote them down in her diary. The series continued in two follow-up books: "Autumn's Kiss" and "Autumn's Wish."

'Palo Alto' by James Franco

This one isn't a novel per se. But in 2010, around the time when he was doing everything imaginable, like doing performance art and taking as many as 62 credits a semester at Harvard, people were surprised by the publication of James Franco's collection of linked short stories called "Palo Alto," which he would go on to adapt into a 2013 film.

'A Tale Out of Luck' by Willie Nelson

Willie isn't just known for his country classics and unforgettable performances. In addition to some autobiographical writing, Nelson wrote his novel "A Tale Out of Luck" about Texas Ranger Captain Hank Tomlinson and his investigation into a murder in the town of Luck, Texas.

'Tales from Margaritaville' by Jimmy Buffett

Because Parrotheads love to read as much as they love to party. The "Margaritaville" singer is as prolific an author as he is a musician. He's had three number-one bestsellers: the short story collection "Tales from Margaritaville," his novel "Where is Joe Merchant?" and the 1998 autobiography "A Pirate Looks at Fifty."
