Inside Jewel's 25th anniversary edition of ‘Pieces Of You’

'Listening back to these songs, I hear a lot of courage'

Jewel’s debut album, Pieces Of You turns 25 this year, and in order to commemorate her first studio album properly, the “Foolish Games” singer will be releasing a deluxe edition of the album.

The special edition of Pieces Of You is due out On November 20 and will feature various rare gems from Jewel’s early career, demos, liver performances, and more.

The box set version of this special release will also contain never before seen poetry, lyrics, liner notes, and photographs. Along with a remastered LP, the press release shares with fans that the box set will also include “rarities” and recordings of “Jewel’s Inner Change coffeehouse sessions from 1994.”

Jewel shares insight about the album all these years later and says “It was a really simple record and I went out and worked hard for it.” She continues, “I knew it was going to be a slow process, but I also saw a change in the zeitgeist. Grunge was a tectonic shift in the culture, but you can’t live in cynicism forever.”

The iconic hitmaker and 90s emblem also explains her take on how these original tracks impact her now. “Listening back to these songs, I hear a lot of courage, though I didn’t feel that at the time. I was really raw, but I wanted people to feel what I was feeling as intensely as I was.”

The newly re-released “You Were Meant For Me” is out now ahead of the release and reading for your nostalgic listening pleasures.
