Event to Honor Wichita’s Top Athletes scheduled for 2021

League 42 has made the decision to reschedule 150 for 150, an event to celebrate Wichita’s best high school athletes. The event was originally scheduled to take place on this date, but will now take place at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Additionally, the event’s name has changed to 151 for 151: A Celebration of Wichita’s Best High School Athletes.

The event will feature outstanding athletes that graduated from Wichita high schools. One-hundred-fifty-one athletes will be recognized as part of this event, including three of the city’s all-time greats in their respective sports: Lynette Woodard (women’s basketball), Jim Ryun (track and field), and Barry Sanders (football).

"I've always considered it shortsighted that we, as a city, have neglected to truly appreciate the great athletes who have come out of our high schools,” said League 42 Founder and Executive Director, Bob Lutz. “It could be argued that Barry Sanders is the greatest football player in history, that Lynette Woodard is the greatest women's basketball player in history and that Jim Ryun is the greatest middle-distance runner in history, especially at the high school level. And they all grew up within blocks of one another in our city. Not to mention the many other great athletes we have produced. It's time to shine a light on the accomplishments of these tremendous athletes and people."

League 42 is an urban youth baseball league that makes baseball affordable for families. League 42 stresses sportsmanship and education and will soon open for offices, indoor baseball training, and a learning center emphasizing third grade reading and middle school math skills for the league’s nearly 600 participants.
