Feuds are a dime dozen in the famously petty NBA and the best one going right now is between Damian Lillard and Paul George. The two had it out over Instagram Saturday, continuing a war of words that began with Lillard’s post-game remarks following a loss to the Clippers.
Lillard clanked a pair of free throws down the stretch Saturday with Patrick Beverley and other members of the Clippers’ bench ruthlessly mocking the Trail Blazers guard for his costly misses. Dame didn’t take too kindly to that, reminding Beverley of the time he ended his season with a walk-off three-pointer to eliminate the Rockets in 2014. Come to think of it, Lillard did the same to George last year, sending the Thunder packing with a series-clinching dagger from outer space.
That’s when George entered the fray, clapping back at Lillard by leaving this comment on Bleacher Report’s Instagram post:
Lillard threw shade right back at George, roasting the six-time All-Star for constantly changing teams. It’s true George has bounced around in recent years—the Clippers are his third team in four seasons following stints with Indiana and Oklahoma City. But the 10-year vet argued that injuries have kept him from staying in one place.
Wanting to unwind after his online spat with Lillard, George decided to log off for a bit, taking his mind off of things by hitting the lake for some afternoon fishing. Lillard and George’s paths could cross again in the postseason, though the Trail Blazers—who currently trail the eighth-seeded Grizzlies by 1.5 games in the Western Conference—should probably worry about making the playoffs first.
