Adrian Peterson is once again in the NFC North.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the former Washington Football Team running back has signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions after being cut by Washington on Friday.
The Lions cut fifth-round pick Jason Huntley on Saturday, which opened a spot at running back. Peterson will join a backfield that also features Kerryon Johnson and D'Andre Swift.
The 35-year-old ran for 898 yards while scoring five TDs on 211 carries in 2019 for the Washington Football Team. He was unexpectedly released by Washington on Friday, which Peterson said he was "blindsided" by.
By joining the Lions, Peterson returns to the NFC North where he began his Hall of Fame-bound career with the Minnesota Vikings.
