Rebel Wilson dubbed 2020 her “year of health,” and over the past several months she has openly shared her weight loss journey with the public.
While she has received a lot of support from her over 9 million followers on Instagram, the actress recently clapped back at those who say that her boyfriend, Jacob Busch, only became interested in her after she started losing weight.
In an interview with E!, the 40-year old Australian said “some people on social media say, ‘Oh, well, you lost weight and then you got a hot boyfriend.’ But, what I do want to say to those people is that I actually dated Jacob when I was at my heaviest as well.”
She shared that she and Busch began to date when she weighed around 220 pounds, something that she finds comforting. “It wasn’t necessarily of what my body type was. He really likes me for me,” she said.
Busch, whose family founded the Anheuser-Busch brewing company, has popped up several times on Wilson’s social media since the couple made their red carpet debut in September at a gala in Monaco, reports Today.
Wilson initially lost “between 40 and 50 pounds” while filming “Cats,” including eight pounds that she dropped over four days while filming her number in the musical. “One, because there's a lot of physicality… But also, they heated up the set very high, to almost 100 [degrees] Fahrenheit, so that we could never cool down,” she shared in January.
Since then, a combination of diet and exercise, as well as focusing on her mental health, have helped the “Pitch Perfect” star drop some additional weight. In May she said that she was hoping to lose around 165 pounds in all by the end of the year, and in September she shared that she was only around 18 pounds away from her goal.
