Anderson .Paak Skipped Studio Session With Kanye West and Dr. Dre to Be on ‘The Price Is Right’

Seriously tho, he did that

Now here’s a dude who has his priorities straight… lol just kidding, Anderson, what were you thinking? We must know! Lucky for us .Paak shared exactly that, with us and the rest of the world on a recent episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

After briefly talking about a video Anderson posted of himself getting tested for coronavirus via nose swab, they moved on to chatting about his appearance on The Price Is Right earlier in the year (but actually filmed in December 2019.)

The following is what Anderson had to say of that day: “The only thing is I had a session with Dr. Dre and Kanye West right before, and I had to leave that session early to get to 'The Price Is Right.' I didn’t want to tell them I had to go to 'The Price Is Right.' I was like, ‘Yo, I got this thing I got to do, you know…’ We got the work done, but man, it was the craziest day of my life: That session, going from there to 'The Price Is Right'… it was amazing.”

Okay fine, we’re a little more on board with his choice now that we know they “got the work done,” and also hugely because of the megawatt smile .Paak was sporting when retelling the day's events.

At another point in the show Anderson performed his newest single “Lockdown.”

In the song Paak addresses police brutality and the civil unrest that has taken place since the murder of George Floyd in May. “Look out for the secret agents, they be planted in the crowd/Said, 'It's civil unrest, ' but you sleep so sound/Like you don't hear the screams when we catchin' beatdowns/Stayin’ quiet when they killin' n*****, but you speak loud.”

During his performance Anderson payed tribute to Floyd with a jersey reading “FLOYD 20” draped on a piano beside him, a reference to the counterfeit $20 bill that led to his death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. As well as his good friend and collaborator the late Mac Miller. Paak rhythmically drummed in-front of a large framed photo featuring himself and an ecstatic Miller, smiling ear to ear.

Can’t get enough of .Paak? Us either, check out his new “Lockdown” remix featuring Noname, J.I.D., and Jay Rock.
