Disney World Resort Offers 'Schoolcation' Option for Families

A vacation with a side of online learning!

A Florida hotel is offering a homeschooling option that blends the best of both worlds.

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando at the Walt Disney World Resort is pushing a new initiative called “schoolcation,” which allows you to participate in e-learning while on vacation.

According to the press release, the hotel is providing supervised sessions for children to utilize while attending remote classes.

The perk is that no one has to give up those vacation vibes because after a long and productive day of online learning comes to “ultimate recess” at the hotel’s water park and recreation areas.

“With the Resort’s exclusive 5-acre (2 hectare) Explorer Island as their playground, kids will have a blast swimming in the Explorer Pool, floating down the lazy river, zooming down the water slides, and enjoying outdoor recreation such as sand volleyball, basketball, foosball, table-tennis, and more,” the release read.

Thomas Steinhauer, general manager and regional vice president of Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort noted: “This new offering exclusively for our Resort guests will be both helpful to parents, as well as something really fun for kids to experience.”

“Many kids have been completing school work in their homes for a while now. A chance to mix up their learning environment, and combine school and playtime at the Resort, is sure to be a welcome treat and create a memory that will last a lifetime,” he added.

The supervised study sessions are available Monday through Friday beginning September 14, 2020.

There are two options being offered: half sessions from 9 am to 12pm for $50 per child and full-day sessions from 9 am to 3pm for $100 a child, which includes lunch and an hour dedicated to physical education with the option of swapping it out for arts and crafts.

Groups consist of up to six children with each one getting their own desk area to ensure proper social distancing, per the release.

With kids at school, the press release encourages parents to “relish in free time to themselves to relax by the Resort’s exclusive adult-only Oasis Pool” as they’re “surrounded by palm trees and white cabanas.”

The school during vacation deal is the hotel’s way of hoping to recover from the COVID shutdowns and attract families during a time when travel typically winds down.
