NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- People across the world have been expressing their gratitude and appreciation for frontline coronavirus workers -- from clapping outside their windows to dropping off food at hospitals -- so it only makes sense that the sentiment is taken online.

Twitter has debuted an emoji that reflects this emotion, and appears whenever users type "#thankful" or "#gratitude."

It's a pair of hands forming the shape of a heart with orange rays radiating from it.

"To give you another way to show your gratitude, we’ve created an emoji that will appear when you use #thankful or other hashtags for #gratitude (in various languages)," Twitter tweeted.

Twitter launched the emoji after it noticed an uptick in thankfulness themes in early March, and use of the praying hands emoji went up 50 percent, and use of the clapping hands went up 10 percent.
