Songs of the Day!

"Eternal Flame" - The Bangles
The song was inspired by an eternal flame that exists at the gravesite of Elvis Presley. Susanna Hoffs went on a tour of Graceland, saw the eternal flame, and thought it would make a good title for a song.

"Wild, Wild West" - The Escape Club
The song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of November 12, 1988, making The Escape Club the ONLY British artist to have a #1 hit in the United States while NEVER charting in the UK.

"Shakedown" - Bob Seger
The song was recorded for the soundtrack of 'Beverly Hills Cop II,' was nominated for an Academy Award, and was left off Seger's first 'greatest hits' album because he "felt it wasn't his greatest, and not one of his signature songs."

"Venus" - Bananarama
The song is a cover, originally written and recorded by Dutch group Shocking Blue. At one point, Banarama had been performing it for years, but when they finally wanted to record it, their producers didn’t think it would be a hit.  They found a new production crew, and the song became an international hit.
