
A result of the ongoing pandemic nobody saw coming was the incredibly rise in negative reviews of scented candles.
Kate Petrova, a research assistant in the psychology department at Bryn Mawr College, analyzed date from Amazon reviews, and found that though reviews of scented-candles were "relatively stable" from January 2017 to January 2020, but then experienced a “sharp drop" between January and November 2020.
And this trend isn't lost on the rest of social media, as well.
London-based PhD student Moritz Wagner also found a similar trend with Amazon reviews of perfume.
