Kansas City, MO - It's pothole season, and anyone who has been on the roads has likely experienced a bump in the road. Potholes are popping up all over, causing flat tires and other issues.
"It's due to rapid freezing and thawing along with wet weather," says Mike Right, with the Missouri AAA.
Right explains that your best bet is to try to avoid them, but if you're in a situation where you can't, slow down and try to hit the pothole head-on with flat part of the tire.
"Increase your following distance so you can watch if the cars ahead of you swerves to dodge a large pothole," suggests Right, "giving you more time to respond."
If you do find yourself with a flat, pull over to the side of the road and turn on your hazards to warn oncoming traffic that you're stopped.
