Lee's Summit, MO - A plane made a near-perfect emergency landing in the eastbound lanes of I-470 just past Douglas Street on Tuesday afternoon.
The pilot wasn't injured, nor were any drivers, and no apparent damage to any of the cars and trucks on the interstate.
Numerous people driving on the freeway at the time captured the landing and the aftermath.
Facebook user Nate Frazier was driving eastbound on 470 and captured video and photos of the plane landing.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said via Twitter that the pilot was making his final approach to land at the Lee’s Summit airport when he experienced sudden engine failure in one of two engines.
In a statement the FAA said, "A twin-engine Beechcraft BE50 made an emergency landing this afternoon on Interstate 470 near Lee’s Summit, Mo., after the pilot reported a loss of engine power. No injuries were immediately reported on the ground nor by the pilot. The FAA will investigate."
The plane was taken off the interstate around 3:30pm Tuesday.
