Kansas City, MO – If you need a ride, you can arrive in style at your local polling place on Election Day. Just don't expect a red carpet when you arrive.

Here in the KC Metro, and across the country, funeral homes are again offering elderly voters free limo rides to the polls on Election Day in an effort to make it easier for them to vote in person.

“We will pick them up in a limousine and take them to the polls," said Duane Harvey, who operates a funeral home in Kansas City.

The program is a joint effort between The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association (NFDMA) and the National Urban League (NUL).

Harvey said he and others in Kansas City provided more than 200 rides last election.

“All elections are important, voting is important," said Harvey. "But this particular election is very important.”

The limo rides are offered between 7am and 8pm on Election Day, but you must make a reservation online or calling Duane E Harvey Funeral Directors directly.

Cleanings will take place between rides and masks must be worn by both the driver and riders.
