EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — Some Metro East kids will have to be patient before filling their candy buckets this year.
Neighborhood trick-or-treating in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon has been delayed until Friday, Nov. 1, city officials announced Monday. Originally, trick-or-treating was to take place Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 31.
"The current weather forecast shows an 80% chance of rain and low temperatures, which could affect the safety and welfare of our citizens participating in outdoor activities," Major Michael Fillback of the Edwardsville Police Department said in a statement.
However, Fillback said that this change does not affect the annual Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce Parade, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. In the case of inclement weather, city officials will decide the day of whether the parade will go on or not. If canceled, there will not be a makeup date for the parade.
