ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A big change of plans for Rockwood schools a little more than two weeks before they're set to start.
The district initially wanted an all virtual option plus a reduced-capacity, two-day-a-week, in-person option. This week the school board decided that's not viable. School starts August 24 — all virtually.
District communications director Alex Fees knows this isn't ideal.
"We knew that we were certainly disappointing a certain faction of the parents in our district," Fees says. "At the same time we also knew that there's a certain faction of parents, another faction, who would be very happy with this decision, and it's the job of school board members to try to make arrangements to educate the children of both sets of parents."
Fees says all students got Chromebooks and other technology last spring when the pandemic first hit.
