JUPITER, Fla. (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt told reporters Monday morning at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium that lefty Kwang-Hyun Kim will miss his scheduled start this afternoon against the Twins in Jupiter as he deals with sensitivity in his groin area.

"It's very mild ... to say it's nothing wouldn't be accurate, because it's something," Shildt explained. "The training staff found it proactively, which I applaud. Just a little sensitive area about four days ago.

"He threw another bullpen without any issue, but we just want to make complete sure that everything is fine. He's throwing a bullpen today, which will put him on trajectory to start one of the split squad games on Thursday [March 5.>"

Shildt said the Cardinals are being "super, uber conservative" and stressed the discomfort KK is experiencing is in no way arm related.

"He's been tremendous," Shildt said.

KK's departure from today's plans means that Genesis Cabrera draws the starting assignment against the Twins. Johan Oviedo will come in in relief.

Dakota Hudson will appear for the third time this spring tomorrow in Jupiter against the Astros.

Jack Flaherty is scheduled to make his third start of the spring on Wednesday in Port St. Lucie against the Mets.
