Doctors, nurses use social media to beg people to 'stay home for us'

(KMOX) - Doctors and nurses all over the world are joining in a campaign called, "Stay Home: Save Lives" and hope citizens are following their calls for help. 

Medical workers have been posting pictures of themselves wearing gloves and face masks while holding signs like, "I stayed at work for you, you stay at home for us."

One nurse in Italy, where the death toll rose to 2,978 as of Wednesday due to the coronavirus pandemic, shared a selfie while wrapped in protective equipment and holding a sign that translates to: "Those who think 'It will not happen to me' will be the next person to be infected!!! Stay at home!!!"

Locally, both Missouri and Illinois reported its first deaths due to COVID-19 in the past two days.
