ST LOUIS (KMOX) - Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker says it's a "Wild West" as states fight each other and other countries for needed supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking during CNN's State of the Union, Pritzker said his state is getting another shipment of personal protective equipment (PPE) soon, but that's only a "fraction" of what's been requested from the federal government, and he added they're overpaying.

Illinois Gov. Pritzker says despite FEMA streamlining critical supply requests, the state is still only getting a fraction of what it needs and is competing against other states on the open market for supplies. “It’s a wild west... indeed we are overpaying" for PPE. #CNNSOTU

The comments prompted angry tweets from President Donald Trump who says governors should not be "blaming the federal government for their own shortcomings."

You wasted precious months when you could've taken action to protect Americans & Illinoisans. You should be leading a national response instead of throwing tantrums from the back seat.Where were the tests when we needed them?Where's the PPE?Get off Twitter & do your job.
