Off-duty St. Louis officer wounded in overnight shooting; 2 juveniles in custody


ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) -  Two juveniles are in custody, after one allegedly shot and injured a St. Louis City Police officer.  

St. Louis Police Major Eric Larson tells KMOX the officer, a 24-year veteran of the Department, was working a secondary job at 10th and Convention around midnight.  Larson says he was wearing a tactical vest marked with the word 'POLICE'. 

Investigators say one of the suspects ran toward him and began shooting.  The officer was struck in the arm.  He is expected to recover.

Larson says the officer did not return fire, moving to his car for safety and calling for assistance.  

The investigation is being handled by the Force Investigation Unit.  

Two juveniles are in custody. This is the sixth officer shot in the city in the last two months.
