(KMOX) - The wildly popular musical "Hamilton" starring Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton is coming to Disney Plus on July 3, the company announced Tuesday.

Three performances by the original Broadway cast were shot and slated for a theatrical release in October 2021. But that release date has been moved up and moved to the online streaming service.

The latest production of the musical – which swept the 2016 Tony Awards and was named the best musical that year – was suppose to be on stage at The Fox Theater in St. Louis from May 5 through June 7. The show was postponed due to health concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fox is in discussion with the show's producers to reschedule the engagement and hopes to announce that information soon.

Ticket holders should keep their tickets until new dates are announced.
