President Trump tweets about retired St. Louis police captain 'killed by despicable looters'

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The leader of the free world posted a special message in honor of the former St. Louis police captain who was shot and killed by looters early Tuesday morning in north St. Louis. 

Capt. David Dorn, who was retired from law enforcement, died while watching over his friend's store, Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry. While looting was happening, Dorn "was exercising law enforcement training,"  says St. Louis Police Cheif John Hayden, then was shot and killed. 

President Donald Trump posted this message on Twitter, with a photo of Dorn: 

"Our highest respect to the family of David Dorn, a Great Police Captain from St. Louis, who was viciously shot and killed by despicable looters last night. We honor our police officers, perhaps more than ever before. Thank you!"

The tweet has almost 90,000 retweets and more than 335,000 likes as of 7:30 Wednesday morning.
